Was wondering if anything will be destrutible as for buildings and shit. I know that a completely destructible environment is out of the question for BF42s engine, but I was thinking perhaps bridges, bunkers, and towers should be destructible, and could be repaired by engineers.
I know that medic and ammo boxes will be, but will anything else be?

Any thoughts?

We'll have to test this out. I would like to see more destructible buildings, but with a lot of vehicles this may not be possible. The infantry maps should be able to handle destructible statics without too much lag.

We talked before about certain areas that people typically use would be created with destructibility in mind. We'll see how it pans out, obviously I'd love to be able to level the whole map with bombs and tank rounds, cause all kinds of destruction.

I always thought that you could have it so a tank round actually punches a hole in the building where it hit, which is asking a lot. no game out there does that right now except some of the RTSG's

Then I thought make a building just like a vehicle, where it takes damage then turns into the blown up static. But isn't there a certain number of vehicle objects allowed in a game? Is there a different way to do that, add damage factor to a building?

Yep the guard towers are pretty fun.

They indeed also had destroyabel bridges (as far as i know only on bocage) the bridges realy add something too the gameplay if you blow them up you can cut off youre enemy.

I real like them and there maybe intresting for GF to look in to. They can realy change a map. Also bridge laying tank anyone?

If you want i can post screens of it

(The bridge will respawn after a while)

I am really interested in implementing a destroyable environment. Forgotten hope had destroyable bridges in at least one level and yes, agreed great way to add more dynamic game play. I just wish they had engineer style equipment like a bridge layer for a counter effort. Yeah, I'd like to see it.

Is it possible to make a door that is destroyable.
This is my thought...
A building, or room, would have one entrance. Initially it would be open, but when a player enters, he could "close" it behind him. The door would operate only from the inside, so anyone wanting in would have to blow the door. Give the door enough hit points to require a C4 charge, rocket or a couple of frags to knock down.
Is this is possible, or is it just a stupid idea? Confused

the destructable child objects would be good for this. cut the building into many peices, and have the base(non child) indestructible like bad company, and have the child objects the walls. if coded right you could take down a building with an A10 sweep and it would be bad ass

your saying you could sweep a building take it down and it would fall to random peices?

sort of, but you could blow up the walls one at a time. the battle of britain factory blows up after taking an amount of damage, but this way you would be able to blow a hole in a house
